LCSA Adds 2 Teams, Wins AB Medal Count 09/09/11
2011 was another great season of growth and success for the Lloydminster Competitive Softball Association. 2011 saw the addition of two teams with a U10 (mite) team and a second U16 (Bantam) team. The young Rebels were also lucky to have the opportunity to work with former Team Canada star Erin Cumpstone at their spring camp. The LCSA tied for the lead in AASA provincial championship medals with four. As well, LCSA also tied for the most 'A' medals won with three. Only one team from LCSA advanced to post-provincial play in 2011 with the U16 Betcave Rebels going to Winnipeg to compete at Nationals. There they made the LCSA and all of Alberta proud with a fifth place finish -the highest by an Alberta team in several years- including a victory over the perennial powerhouse British Columbia provincial champions. The LCSA also was a busy host again in 2011, hosting its annual June tournament and also hosting U16A, U14A and U14B provincials. Despite heavy rain on both weekends, the unequalled LCSA volunteers worked untold hours to ensure that both events were a great success!
Two Rebels Named First Team All-Stars 09/09/11
The LCSA U16A Betcave Rebels are excited to congratulate Ky Desaulniers and Madison Clarke on their selection as first team all stars at the 2011 U16 Canadian National Championships in Winnipeg. Madison Clarke was named first team all star pitcher after leading the round robin in innings pitched and Strike Outs and K/BB ratio with a sparkling 1.57 ERA. Ky Desaulniers was named first team all star first baseman after she hit .471 with 7 RBI and 2 stolen bases in the round robin and stepping it up for the playoffs hitting .500 with two doubles.
Rebel, Clarke, Wins AB Player Of The Year 09/09/11
The LCSA is excited to congratulate Rebel Madison Clarke on her selection as the Softball Alberta Player of the Year for 2011. Clarke had an outstanding year as she lead Team Alberta to a bronze medal at the Western Canada Summer Games and was also the first team all star pitcher at the U16 Canadian National Championships.
